Year 10 Futures students had a live meet-up with Sheena from Hartleys Farm as part of the Farmer Time initiative.
Farmer Time is all about harnessing the power of digital communications to inspire, engage, and educate young people about not only the journey from farm to fork but also the ever-changing, diverse agricultural industry.
Students regularly chat live to their matched farmer from their classrooms to discuss ideas, ask questions, share knowledge, and gain a ‘real-time’ understanding of the issues farmers face every day.
Futures students showed Sheena the experiments they have been conducting linked to their project on the future of sustainable food and asked questions about the operation of the farm and growing peas.
The students will be planting peas at school and following the crop growing in Yorkshire for the rest of the term.
